realATC3D:
Air Traffic Control

Take the radio at a real airport. Clear aircraft to push back, taxi them across the real taxiways, launch them off the runway and bring them home again, all with your own voice and the same phrases real UK controllers use. Work the shift on your own, or run the tower with your friends online.

Run the airport with your friends

A busy airport needs more than one controller. Bring your mates onto the frequencies and split the jobs between you, live.

  • Every position. Delivery, Ground, Tower and Approach. Each friend takes a seat and the AI controller covers any seat nobody wants.
  • Host or join in seconds. Pick a game from the online list, or host your own at any airport.
  • Public or private. Open your room to anyone, or lock it with a PIN for just your friends.
  • Real radio. Talk on the frequency with push-to-talk and your voice goes out over the radio, just like the pilots hear it. A clean intercom line lets you co-ordinate between positions.
  • Swap seats mid-shift. Ask to take over Tower or hand Ground to a friend at any time.
  • Listen in. Monitor a second frequency on COM2, so you hear what's coming your way before it calls you.

Work the frequency

Talk with your own voice

Press to talk and give your instructions out loud. Speech recognition runs on your own PC, and the pilots read back in their own voices through a crackly radio. They sometimes get it wrong, so listen. Prefer not to talk? Type, or click an aircraft and pick from a menu.

Real UK radio phrases

Built around the radio phrases in the UK's CAP 413, from "push and start approved" to "cleared to land". Real airline callsigns, readbacks, hand-offs and the ATIS, the way UK controllers do it.

Real airports

Manchester comes fully built and checked. Type the code of any other airport in the world and the game builds it from OpenStreetMap: its real runways, taxiways, stands, terminals and buildings.

Every seat in the tower

Work Delivery, Ground, Tower or Approach, and change seat whenever you like. An AI controller works the positions you're not on, and hands traffic over to you on the right frequency.

A 3D tower cab

Sit at your console with its screens and strip bay, or get up and walk around the glass for a 360° view of the field. Watch the sun rise over the apron, squint into the glare at sunset, and work by screen light at night.

Proper radar

A ground movement radar for the taxiways, a tower radar for the circuit and a dark approach radar room with data tags, a speed vector and range rings. Click a tag to give it an instruction.

Busy, realistic traffic

Ten airliner types from the ATR 72 to the 747 on real airline callsigns, with quiet nights and a morning rush. Pushbacks, taxiing, line-ups, departures, approaches, landings and go-arounds, with a wake turbulence board to keep your spacing right.

Weather that changes

Grey sheets of rain drifting across the field and puddles on the apron, snow falling flake by flake, fog, thunderstorms and low sun. The weather changes through the shift, and the wind decides which runway you use.

Life on the airside

Tugs push the aircraft back, service vans and follow-me cars drive the airside roads, and on a snowy night the ploughs need the runway. Send out a runway inspection when something doesn't look right.

Flight strips your way

Paper strips that come out of the printer at your desk, electronic strips on a touch screen, or no strips at all. Your choice.

Emergencies

Mayday calls, bird strikes on departure and aircraft going around when the runway isn't clear. Get them down safely while the rest of the traffic keeps flowing. More emergencies are on the way.

Shift debrief

At the end of every shift you get a score out of 100, a replay of the whole shift on the radar and a timeline of your mistakes. Click one to jump to the moment and see what you should have said instead.

More airports, more emergencies and more features are being added all the time before launch.
